Chronicle Books
During my tenure at Chronicle Books, I designed, art directed, and managed hundreds of projects. In publishing we always worked from a three-year production calendar we developed product concepts, determined packaging designs and structures, crafted the actual products, and eventually brought them to market.
While I personally designed many of these products, I also had the privilege of collaborating with numerous designers, illustrators, and photographers. I honed my skills in art direction, working closely with photographers, illustrators, and designers to secure the most suitable images or illustrations, ensuring that all designs met Chronicle Books' standards of ingenuity and style.
This experience was highly educational. Creativity was paramount, with each project uniquely tailored to its content. The following are just a few examples of various projects I contributed to during my time there.
The Cocktail Hour
This deck was made up of classic cocktail recipes. I worked with photographer and I styled and art directed the photoshoot. The direction harkened back to the 1950's.

Crafty Girl Series
The Crafty Girl series consisted of multiple books focused on different types of craft type projects. From creating your own beauty products to making your own journal, this product was targeted for girls between ages 8 to 13. I designed and created all the graphics and worked with illustrator for the technical illustrations.

The Autobiography Box
A guided tool-kit for writing one's autobiography. I wanted this product to bring up nostalgia, this product is about looking back on one's life and memories. I worked with a photographer and art directed the photoshoot to capture objects that reflect the subject matter for each section.

Lesbian and Gay Pulp Address Books
This duo of address books features gay and lesbian pulp covers on each tab and includes revealing reviews of the racy novels! The design of these soft address books reflect the pulp novels featured inside including gilded edges.
